## How to play Color Panic

Find the odd tile on each board. Rounds alternate between one different shade and one different stripe pattern, providing a visual cue beyond color. The grid grows from 3×3 to 5×5 after five and ten correct picks.

### Controls and round details

Tap or click the tile that differs in the named rule. Correct answers immediately open the next board; the round lasts 30 seconds.

## Color Panic scoring

Correct picks add 10 plus a capped streak bonus. Mistakes lose 5 and reset the streak. The grid grows after five and ten solved boards. Shade rounds keep a visible lightness gap; stripe rounds differ by direction.

At larger sizes, scan rows and look for the stripe direction or brightness change named above the grid. Wrong choices get a visible outline so you can retry.

## Color Panic strategy and tips

### Color Panic tips

1. Scan the grid in rows rather than looking randomly.
2. Use peripheral vision to notice contrast differences.
3. Avoid guessing; wrong answers remove points and break your streak.

### What changes between rounds

Read the prompt above the grid before choosing. On a brightness round, one tile is lighter than the surrounding tiles. On the next round, look for diagonal stripes among vertical stripes instead. The board grows after five and ten successful choices, but a wrong choice leaves the same board in place and outlines the tile you tried.

On a 5×5 board, compare a short row at a time instead of scanning every tile at once. If a shade is hard to distinguish on your display, the alternating stripe round offers a shape-based challenge. The tile labels also describe the pattern or shade for screen-reader users.

## Common Color Panic mistakes

- **Scanning at random.** Compare one row at a time.
- **Guessing.** A wrong pick costs 5 points and resets your streak.
- **Missing the prompt.** Every other round asks for stripe direction instead of brightness.

## About Color Panic

Color Panic is a Tap Rush Arcade original odd-one-out game. Rounds alternate between a brightness difference and a stripe-direction difference, so players who find faint shades hard can still score on the pattern rounds, and every tile has a text label for screen readers.

## Color Panic: questions and answers

### Does the odd tile always look brighter?

No. Every other round asks you to find a stripe direction instead of a brighter tile.

### Why did the grid get larger?

Grid size follows solved boards: 3×3 for rounds 1–5, 4×4 for 6–10 and 5×5 afterward.

### Is Color Panic colour-blind friendly?

Largely. Brightness rounds use lightness rather than hue, and every other round uses stripe direction, which does not depend on colour at all.
